Environment and sustainability at the heart of the first National Geographic Fest.
From climate to environmental protection, from urban planning to recycling, from photography to explorations, from film screenings to exhibitions: from 6 to 12 November, for a week, the first edition of the National Geographic Fest held in Milan, at the CitylifeAnteo and Citylife Shopping District, has brought the sustainability of the Planet at the center of meetings with some of the protagonists of the national and international scientific and cultural panorama. The meetings and premieres, articulated in a broad and current program to imagine a better future for a possible new Planet – also thanks to the direct link with the COP26 in Glasgow, from where the Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani has connected live with the Festival – have captured the interest of thousands of people in the room and of over 150,000 online viewers who participated in the Festival panels made available through nationalgeographic.it/ngfest2021. In the meanwhile about 100,000 people were able to admire the images of the traveling exhibition of National Geographic Planet or Plastic? inaugurated on the opening day of the Festival by Jill Tiefenthaler, CEO of the National Geographic Society, which every year funds scientific research, training programs and environmental protection worldwide, and Marco Mengoni, ambassador of the international campaign of National Geographic Planet or Plastic?.
A first edition that laid its gaze on the environment and its complexity to seek possible solutions to problems that can no longer be ignored. The festival has hosted reflections, analysis and direct testimonies that have allowed to relaunch the challenge of young people of the Green Generation, putting in the foreground urgent issues related to the effects of climate change, the green revolution and the preservation of the Earth, faced by multiple perspectives and declinations.
