The first edition of the finals of the “Barista Challenge” competition took place in Turin, an enthralling three days of training and pure competition.

The location chosen for the international finals of the “Barista Challenge” competition could only be the beautiful Lavazza headquarters in Turin. The 15 finalist baristas – from five nations in the CEMEA market, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, and the UAE, accompanied by their Tutors as delegation leaders – had the chance to plunge themselves in the world of the leading coffee company since 1895.

The day of 25 January was dedicated to training: it began with a welcome speech at the Lavazza Milan Flaghsip, followed by a visit to the Lavazza Innovation Center plant in Settimo Torinese, and finally took all the guests on a journey through the history of the brand in the Lavazza Museum, at the Nuvola in Turin. But the spotlight was also shone on Thursday 26 January, in the Foyer of the Lavazza Central, where the finalists challenged each other in the preparation of the Mocaccino they interpreted under the claim of #mymocaccino. Amid intense aromas, imaginative “perfect served”, stern looks from the tutors, heart-stopping waits and shows at the counter, the jury decided on the final winners.

To celebrate the podium, the guests, together with the CEMEA Marketing Team led by Manager Emanuele De Marchi, enjoyed the Gala Dinner at the competition venue, which ended with the eagerly awaited final awards ceremony.
